Following the needs and interests expressed by several footwear companies on the footwear domestic market, considering the low presence of Albanian footwear products in the domestic market and being aware of companies’ growth impact when entering domestic market, a survey of footwear retail market was conducted during March and April 2005. The survey was conducted in about 70 retail shops and used also sources from Customs Directorate, ACIT, INSTAT, etc. Students of Economic High School were trained and conducted interviews with retail shops in Unaza Area of Tirana city. ACIT and EDEM conducted data entry and processing of data, as well as writing the report.
A discussion table on findings of this survey amid producers and retail market representatives, facilitated by ACIT and EDEM, took place on April 28, in order to:
- present findings of retail market survey
- enhance debate on issues/barriers to enter domestic market
- generate conclusions on actions to address certain issues in entering domestic market
The producers had the chance to show to retailers and to participants their products and to inform them on their price/quality ratio. They established further connections, which will be stimulated and extended in the next days with follow-up by the project too.
Participation: Participants were mainly footwear producers interested on domestic market opportunities, as well as traders and business support institutions.
